Fish Care once you get them home

1. Your Fish have been expertly bagged to prevent shock and damage to your
new pets. The blue coloring is a product that calms the fish and helps
keep oxygen in the water.

2.   The bag has been filled with air and your fish should be breathing easily while
in the closed bag.

3. Do not keep the bagged fish in the car or trunk for extended period
of time, they can easily over heat and suffocate. Keep the bag in a
cool dark place until you can introduce them to your pond.

4.   The pH of our water ranges between 6.8 and 7.2. Check your water pH before
releasing the fish.

5.  When you get to the pond, place the bag to float in the pond water, after 10 minutes;
remove the rubber band and allow pond water to mix with bag water.
Allow the bag to float with pond water for as long as it takes to acclimate
the fish to our pond. You can add more pond water to the bag every 5
to 10 minutes. Once the fish are adjusted to the temperature and chemistry
of your pond (a total of 20 to 60 minutes) you can release them into
the pond. Slowly raise the closed end of the bag to encourage the fish
to swim out into the pond water. It is fine to release the bagged water
into your pond. DO NOT HANDLE the fish OR DROP them into the pond. This
could damage fins, scales or break their backs.

If you see the following behaviors, contact us immediately.
1. Flashing (the fish roll and scratch on surfaces of the pond excessively)
2. Listlessness
3. Floating or swimming head up or down all the time, or swimming upside down.
4. Isolation, the fish stays by itself all the time
5. Stop eating
6. Spending all their time at the bottom of the pond
7. Excessive gulping (like they are always hungry) at the water surface or water fall.

These may be symptoms of pour water quality or disease. We may be able to direct you to find
the reason if you do not hesitate for days to call. Koi do no usually
become symptomatic till they are very sick, so calling quickly is crucial.
Catfish are very susceptible to pH changes and chemical contamination.
Be careful when using medications or water treatments in ponds with Catfish.

Train your fish to surface for food by following these steps:
1. Feed at the same time daily.
2. Feed at the same place.
3. Clap your hands, tap your foot, shake the food container or tap the side of the pond to get
their attention. Fish respond to vibrations in the water, so keep that
in mind when deciding how to call them.
4. Feed sparingly, you can always give them a little more if they devour the food quickly.
Remember fish will eat constantly if given the chance.
